What is Manual Therapy?
Manual therapy refers to the targeted use of hands-on techniques to support physical functions and regulatory processes in the body.
It is a key component of many traditional healing systems – including Ayurveda, Shiatsu, and other long-standing practices.
How it works:
Specific stimuli are applied through the skin to:
Release muscular tension and blockages
Improve circulation
Support the body's natural regulatory flow
Methods I use:
Herbal oil massages
Body pours and warm oil compresses
Herbal stamp treatments
Stretching and joint mobilizations
Pressure point techniques (including Marma point activation)
Individual approach:
Each treatment is tailored to your current state – based on what your body needs at the moment.
Both physical complaints and personal stress factors are actively taken into account.
Treatment goals:
Relief of acute symptoms
Support for natural regulation
Long-term strengthening of health and overall well-being
The following four treatments represent a selection of manual techniques that I combine flexibly from various traditional healing methods, including Ayurveda, Shiatsu, and European approaches. This allows for individually tailored sessions that address your specific needs.
By combining different methods, I can work effectively on physical, functional, and emotional levels – offering a holistic treatment that remains practical and grounded in everyday life.
Abhyanga - gentle body oiling
The whole body is pampered with warm, high-quality herbal oils. The oil penetrates deep into the tissue, stimulating the metabolism and lymphatic system and thus supporting the detoxification of
the body. Warm oil and touch have a calming and balancing effect on the nervous system and help to relax.
Light stretches during the massage also contribute to deep relaxation.
Kalari - the dynamic South Indian oil massage
The Kaladi massage is a full body massage that was traditionally performed in India with hands and feet on a floor mat. The massage was intended to prepare warriors for battle, to achieve inner
peace, balance and self-confidence. It is therefore a very dynamic, powerful massage with lots of stretching, which relieves muscle tension, stimulates the cardiovascular system and improves
joint mobility.
Pristabhyanga - for a strong back
This is the classic Ayurvedic back massage. Medicated herbal oils are also used here. The back, chest and gluteal muscles are worked intensively to loosen the muscles, stimulate circulation and
release blockages in the back.
Pinda Sveda - treatment with heated herbal pouches
The herbs are individually customised to the complaints. Treatment is also carried out with high-quality herbal oils. This therapy method is effective against muscle tension, stimulates the lymph
flow and is also effective for aching joints.
